Panel Discussion on
‘Challenges of Grid Management’
December 14th 15:00 to 16:30 Hrs. (BST)
South Asia (SA) is amongst the fastest growing regions in the world and the energy demand in this region is continuously growing in a steep manner. In order to meet such a high level of growth, the electricity services in the region are required to be expanded with a still higher growth. Looking into the environmental challenges, clean energy transition is also the need of the hour and almost in all the countries in the region, due importance is being attached to this aspect. The electricity grid in the region and its management assumes critical importance under this scenario and the challenges faced during operation of the grid are to be mitigated by use of smart technologies and strengthening of the load dispatch centers. Performance evaluation and benchmarking the system operation indices in respect of the power system and grid management in the different countries in the region can contribute immensely towards meeting such an objective. ICPS as an international conference for power systems endeavors for benchmarking and excellence in system operator functions and it is hoped that the recommendations emerged out of the discussions in this panel session shall render valuable contribution in this respect.
